Description

Our model ETG transverse / diametral extensometer is designed for general purpose measurement of transverse or diametral strain on axially loaded specimens. It may also be simultaneously used with a Model EAG axial extensometer for measurement of Possion's ratio (per ASTM E132) and sheet metal testing such as r-value.

Model ETG is designed to be self-supported and can be used on any width or diameter specimen from 0 to 32 mm (0 to 1.250"). Designed around our innovative, cross-flexure module, this extensometer is designed for improved performance and ruggedness. It features a side-exit cable to reduce cable wear and damage.

With a full bridge, 350 ohm, strain gaged design, model ETG is compatible with most test systems and signal conditioning electronics design for strain gage based transducers. Reliant can provide stand-alone electronics to allow the use of data acquisition boards (DAQ), chart recorders or other test equipment.

Features
  • May be left on through specimen failure.
  • 350 ohm, full bridge strain gaged design to ensure compatibility with most any test system.
  • Designed to measure in both tension and compression and can be used for cyclic testing.
  • Built-in mechanical over-travel stops provide protection in both directions.
  • May be used simultaneously with a Model EAG axial extensometer for measurement of Possion's ratio (per ASTM E132) and sheet metal testing such as r-value.
  • Rugged, optimized, dual flexure design for strength and improved performance.
  • Replaceable, tool steel knife edges and all units are shipped with a spare set.
  • Self-supporting on the specimen.
  • High and low temperature options extend operation range from -270°C to +200 °C (-454 °F to +400 °F).
Options
  • Connectors to interface to most any brand of test equipment.
  • Stand alone signal conditioners for use with DAQ boards.
  • High-Toughness, and specialty knife edges.
