Fracture Mechanics Tests Such as ASTM E1820 / E647

 

 

Description

Our model EDS clip-on gages is designed for testing to standards such as ASTM E1820 and E647. They are a general purpose COD gage designed for use in a variety of fracture mechanics tests (compact tension, bend specimens, and other standardized test methods) to determine fracture mechanics parameters such as R-curve, JIC, KIC, and fatigue crack growth rate (da/dN).

Configurations are also available to meet the requirements of ASTM E399 for fracture toughness. Model EDS is also designed to allow an optional side-exit cable. This can make installation easier for some set-ups such as bend specimen testing.

Model EDS clip-on gages are compatible with most any electronics designed for strain gaged based transducers. Connectors are available for most brands of test machine controls. If your system does not have a compatible strain channel, Reliant can provide stand-alone signal conditioners for use with data acquisition boards (DAQ) or chart recorders.

Specifications

Excitation: 5 to 10 VDC recommended, 12 VDC or VAC max.

Output: 2 to 4 mV/V, nominal.

Linearity: ≤0.15% of full scale measuring range.

Standard Temp. Range: -40 °C to +100 °C (-40 °F to 210 °F) (optional temperature ranges available)

Cable: Standard 2.5 m (8 ft), ultra-flexible cable.  Also available with optional side-exit.

Operating Force: Typically 9 to 11 N (2 to 2.5 lbs).

Clip-On Gages - Model EDS
